Allianz Life Insurance is a company that many of you may be familiar with from the life insurance side of things but many of you may not be aware of their annuity investment options as well. Currently Allianz offers one fixed annuity, six fixed indexed annuity and three variable annuities options.
Fixed indexed annuities are a type of annuity that we haven’t explored in depth a lot so far on this site (we will get there eventually) but essentially they offer the security of a fixed annuity but also allow you to make gains on your investment based on market performance. Essentially they are a middle ground between fixed and variable annuities.
On the variable annuity side, I noticed that one of the benefits listed is that after your contribution period has ended (ie… the amount of money you invest before the annuity begins paying out) then Allianz “may” guarantee that your payments will be at least equal to your contribution regardless of how the market performs. This is certainly a nice benefit for those concerned about losing their investment.
Allianz Life Insurance Company has good ratings from the major rating agencies including an A (excellent) from A.M. Best, AA (Very Strong) from Standard & Poor’s and A2 (good) from Moody’s, three of the largest rating agencies in the country. Allianz has been around since 1906 and is consistently ranked in the top annuities companies in the country.
